Just finished with her Master degree at University College of Arts, Crafts  and Design in Stockholm the glass artist Matilda Kästel will exhibit at Linnman Gallery.

” My work is based on phenomena which I find peculiar, bizarre even, but often constitute norms and are considered to be completely normal. I am particularly interested in power structures and how they affect the way we interact with each other and the surrounding world.

I also want to include a contradictory experience in my work; the meeting between beauty and discomfort. Objects that at first sight are perceived as decorative, but at a closer look turn out to be something more than that. That turns out to be something else than what was expected, another dimension for the viewer to see. Something that doesn’t quite add up to the picture, that provokes the viewer to question preconceptions.

The exhibition opens april 13 and closes may 5 2012.

Photographer Mats Andersson is launching his new book “John Bauers skogar”, co-author David Söderlind, and we are proud to exhibit the wonderful pictures of the woodlands that has inspired many Swedish artists. There will also be pictures from the book “Några sekunders oändlighet” by Mats Andersson and photographer Anna Clarén.

This is the first photo exhibition at Linnman Gallery. But not the last…
